Présentation of Wolfenbüttel


Wolfenbüttel is a medium-sized city, situated in the heart of Germany in Basse Saxe. She is surrounded with vast spread of fields. You could imagine that it is an isolated city. The city covers a 78,46 km surface.

She gets 55 000 people. There are many old persons who come there to spend their retirement because it is a very peaceful and quiet city.

The architecture of Wolfenbüttel is very attractive, Renaissance style. Magnificent by her houses with half-timberings (she still gets around 600), her marketplace, her fort of the 12th century which undergoes many tranformations before becoming the baroque current residence dominated by a beautiful tower the Renaissance, without forgetting " Small Venice ". Her library is also very famous: with approximately 10.000 manuscripts, it is especially rich in Bibles, incunables, and in books dating the period of the reform. It also gets the most expensive book of the world.
